I believe the relationship between Gumball and Fionna is not based on too many cute&cheesy stuff.
Fionna is a girl and she likes some romantic things, I guess...But, first of all, she's a badass. She likes adventures...Swords...And punches!
The real thing that connects so much Gumball and Fionna, to me, it's fun. Pure, huge, awesome fun.
This was one of the most funny pic from our set in Sigurtà! It makes me laugh XD
Unfortunately I still don't have it on HD, but I wanted to post it sooo much!
